Managed Portfolio Services
Smith & Williamson are delighted to be able to offer Worldwide Financial Planning clients access to Smith & Williamson’s seven actively managed portfolios.
The model portfolios range from Defensive (lower risk) to Growth (higher risk), depending upon the investor’s investment objectives and attitude to risk.
In addition, we have designed a portfolio specifically to offer income and growth for our clients.
The portfolios seek to maximise efficiency and diversification by investing solely in collective investment vehicles, including open-ended funds (OEICs, unit trusts), investment companies and exchange traded funds (ETFs). There are typically 25-30 holdings within each portfolio. This structure offers diversification by asset class and product type, giving our investment managers flexibility to respond to changing market conditions.
Your adviser at Worldwide Financial Planning will consider your goals, retirement, income and investment objectives and select your portfolio to match your needs. Portfolios will be well diversified, actively-managed and held in clients’ own names.
The MPS strategies are managed by the Smith & Williamson Managed Portfolio Service investment team and supported by additional internal investment research.

Introductions to solicitors and accountants for Worldwide Financial Planning come through existing clients and our extensive business contacts.

Our advice process requires our advisers to take time to fully understand a clients’ objectives, needs and preferences before researching suitable solutions.
Our process includes a comprehensive discussion regarding the client’s attitude to, and understanding of, investment risk to ensure that appropriately risk rated solutions are recommended.
The selection of specific investments is based on our bespoke investment research and verified by use of industry standard assessment software.
In arriving at specific client recommendations the adviser will frequently use cash-flow modelling software to illustrate the potential impact of our advice on the clients’ circumstances.
Great financial planning is rarely a one-off event which is why we ensure our clients have their situation reviewed, at least annually, to ensure their circumstances and goals are updated and further advice provided where appropriate.
As part of these reviews we expect our advisers to liaise with a clients’ legal, accounting and tax advisers to ensure the best possible outcome for the client.
As a regulated firm we take our FCA obligations very seriously and have a continuous programme of regulatory risk identification and mitigation in place. This is overseen by our Managing Director who was a Senior Supervisor at the regulator for many years.
