A FORMER Westcountry news editor and journalist has been appointed the Head of Brand Communications for Worldwide Financial Planning – a team of independent financial advisers with offices in Cornwall, Southampton and Northern Ireland.

Eleanor McGillie is no stranger to the Westcountry as she worked in Torbay with the Herald Express as a senior journalist before moving to the Western Morning News as the assistant news editor and deputy news editor. She was then appointed news editor of the Western Daily Press. For the last nine years, she has been managing the brand communications for organisations and businesses both in public and private sectors in Northern Ireland and in the south of Ireland.

Eleanor will provide the direction of communications for Worldwide Financial Planning, writing and implementing strategies, managing communications, managing Worldwide’s brand as well as event planning and coordinating. She leads all internal and external communications, liaising with stakeholders while implementing the firm’s strategies.

Communication

Speaking about her new role, Eleanor said: “It’s extremely exciting to be working with Worldwide Financial Planning. Back in 2008, I launched and project managed the Western Morning News’ Think Local campaign which encouraged people to think of their local economy and spend their pound as local as local can be. This was an ongoing campaign which attracted local and national attention and also gained endorsements from prominent politicians at Westminster. The campaign was sponsored by Worldwide Financial Planning so it’s a real honour to now be working with this team again.

“Financial planning can be quite a complex subject but our team of advisers nurture our clients through the beginning of their financial journey, right through to the end of their financial journey, in a way which puts clients’ needs first while making their money work for them.”

Speaking about Eleanor’s appointment, MD Grahame Hinselwood, said: “Worldwide Financial Planning is in a very exciting place right now and the work we are doing needs to be communicated in the most effective manner. Alongside our traditional services namely mortgages, pensions, life insurance, inheritance tax, business finance etc, our corporate strategy is very much focused on sustainability.

“Economic, social and environmental sustainability is a must for Worldwide Financial Planning so Eleanor will be key to communicating this. We are delighted to have her on board.”
